Springfield, Mo — Bethel hit the road Wednesday night looking to keep momentum rolling, but a fast-paced offensive battle ultimately went the way of Evangel, as the Threshers fell 102–81. Despite efficient shooting stretches and multiple pushes in the second and third quarters, Bethel could not slow down a hot-shooting Valor squad that found scoring from all levels throughout the evening.
Bethel opened the game trading blows early, matching Evangel possession for possession. The Threshers generated quality looks in the first quarter and trailed only 21–18 after the opening 10 minutes. However, Evangel responded with a run built off transition scoring and offensive rebounds, stretching their lead to 45–34 at halftime.
The third quarter was Bethel's strongest offensive stretch of the night. The Threshers poured in 27 points, matching Evangel's 27 in the period and using multiple scoring bursts to stay within striking distance. A series of possessions where Bethel moved the ball side-to-side created clean looks from mid-range and deep, while defensive pressure forced Evangel into a handful of rushed attempts. Play-by-play notes include key moments such as a Bethel media-timeout regroup followed by immediate scoring inside, keeping the margin from growing.
But Evangel answered every run. The Valor shot an efficient 38-for-76 from the field and posted an impressive 47.8% from three. Late-clock threes and timely offensive rebounds repeatedly cut off Bethel's momentum, and a 30-point fourth quarter by Evangel ultimately proved too much to overcome.
Bethel still put together a strong offensive showing, finishing 26-for-56 (46.4%) from the floor and hitting 41.7% from three. Multiple players contributed steady scoring throughout the night, highlighting balanced production from the Threshers' starting unit. Bethel moved the ball well, executed in the mid-range, and found success pushing tempo after defensive stops.
In the end, Evangel's combination of pace, depth, and perimeter efficiency dictated the flow of the game. Bethel continued to battle — delivering punch after punch and producing its best offensive stretch in the third — but the Valor's consistent scoring across four quarters closed the door late.
Bethel returns home to take on Sterling on Wednesday in Thresher Gym.
