Torres Nets Two as Bethel Women’s Soccer Blanks Bethany

Lindsborg, Kan. — Behind a dominant second half and a brace from Yuly Torres, the Bethel women's soccer team secured a 2–0 road win over Bethany College on Wednesday afternoon. The victory improves the Threshers to 2–8–2 overall and 2–5 in KCAC play.

After a scoreless opening half, Bethel broke through in the 64th minute, when Torres struck from 35 yards out to give the Threshers the lead. She followed that up in the 80th minute by calmly converting a penalty kick to double the advantage and seal the match.

Bethel controlled possession throughout, outshooting Bethany 27–5 and recording nine shots on goal. Alongside Torres, Aniaya Lugo fired six shots, while Taylor Andrew and Regina Mendoza each added four.

Goalkeeper Jacie Scott posted a five-save shutout as the defense limited Bethany to just two shots in the second half.

The win gives the Threshers their second conference victory of the season as they prepare to travel to Avila University on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. in Kansas City, Mo.
