NORTH NEWTON, Kan. - The Bethel College Volleyball team hosted a triangular with Cottey College Comets and Central Christian College Tigers. The Threshers took on the Comets in the first match, the Comets and Tigers played a neutral site contest before the Threshers took on the Tigers.

vs Cottey College Comets 3-0 (27-25, 25-19, 25-20)

The Threshers and Comets played a tight back and forth first set with neither team holding a lead larger than four points. Bethel was able to hold off the late Cottey run for the 27-25 set win. BC carried their momentum over into the second set as they jumped out to a large 16-6 lead and never looked back taking the set handidly. The third set saw Bethel take a significant advantage early leading 7-2. Cottey was able to answer this time with a run of their own before Bethel put together a 10-2 run to pull away 18-9. The Comets rallied back late in the set, but ultimately came up short as BC took the set 25-20 and the match 3-0.Â

vs Central Christian 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-19)

In their second match of the day, Bethel took control of the match early and ran away with the opening set. Bethel was able to limit their errors and capitalize on the Tigers taking the opening set 25-14. Central Christian put up more of a fight in the second set as they were able to tie the contest 20-20. Bethel closed the match strong scoring the final five points including two service aces from
Julie Wilhite. In the third set, Central Christian started strong and the Threshers came on late once again. Bethel was able to close out the Tigers 25-18 for the 3-0 match victory.

The Threshers will be back in action on Friday and Saturday August 26th and 27th as they participate in the Hastings Classic in Hastings, Neb.
